Hinsdale Dance Project (HDP)
Hinsdale Dance Project (HDP) is a high-commitment company program for HDA dancers with a primary focus on jazz, lyrical, musical theater and contemporary dance. Ballet training is incorporated as a supporting discipline to develop the technique, strength, alignment, and movement quality necessary for success in these styles; however, HDP does not compete in ballet.
HDP is an excellent pathway for dancers who are seeking a high-commitment team experience within the jazz and contemporary disciplines, as well as dancers who may aspire to pursue jazz or contemporary dance professionally. The program also provides valuable preparation for dancers interested in high school and collegiate dance teams, collegiate dance programs, and professional sports dance teams.
For younger dancers who are interested in potentially pursuing a future in classical ballet, JUCO is the recommended company pathway toward HBT. While it is possible for dancers to transition between HDA companies as their interests and goals develop, maintaining a stronger classical ballet focus during the younger years can be particularly beneficial for dancers who may ultimately wish to pursue ballet at an advanced level.

Company Snapshot
HDP is divided into two required company groups:
Project Level A: One required company group
Project Level B: One required company group
Additional performance and competition opportunities may be offered throughout the season. At the discretion of the HDP Director, dancers may be selected for solos, duets, trios, and small groups in a variety of styles, including jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and musical theatre. Selection for these opportunities is based on the individual dancer and the artistic and competitive needs of each piece.
HDP participates in four competitions per season, with the competition season beginning in February and concluding in May.
Participation in The Nutcracker and spring productions that are produced every other year in March is optional for HDP dancers, while participation in the Spring Dance Concert (Recital) is required.
Because HDP is a year-long company commitment, all company members are required to maintain enrollment in HDA classes for the entire school year. Consistent participation in regular Academy training, company rehearsals, competitions, and performances is an essential component of the HDP experience.

Auditions
All dancers must audition for company every year, this allows us to see current members next to prospective members and choose solos, duets, trios, small groups, etc. for the following year.
Fee: $20.00 per dancer (cash, check, or charge)
Please arrive 15-20 minutes before your audition time to fill out the form, pin numbers and warm-up.
Location: Hinsdale Dance Academy- Studio C
Please note, it is our goal to provide as many opportunities as possible, however, if we do not feel like your dancer is ready for a company experience, they may not be accepted. In these instances, we will communicate what your dancer needs to do to prepare for these opportunities in the future.
